Bio-Tab® Septic Treatment Tablets

Bio-Tab®

The only preventative septic system additive that treats the entire system from the bottom up.

Bio-Tab® has been specifically developed to provide you with an easy, safe and effective way to revitalize and treat your home septic system. These highly concentrated tablets contain carefully selected strains of bacteria and enzymes and have been formulated to meet the specific needs of your home septic system.

THE PROBLEM...

  • Slow moving drains
  • Dishwashers that won't drain
  • Toilets that won't flush
  • Foul smelling odors

At best, these problems produce uncomfortable living conditions and interruptions in normal daily activities. At worst, they can bring your household to an expensive halt.

IS BIO-TAB® SAFE TO USE?

Yes! Bio-Tab® is non-toxic to both humans and animals and contains no harsh or caustic chemicals. It is non-poisonous, and non-corrosive. The organisms in Bio-Tab® are considered to be environmentally safe by the United States government. Using Bio-Tab® also helps keep our groundwater safe.

WHAT MAKES BIO-TAB® DIFFERENT?

Bio-Tab® is a carefully designed, time release tablet that sinks to the bottom of your septic tank where build-up problems begin. Powders and liquids wash over the surface with little effect. Bio-Tab®'s time release technology gradually dissolves to create a growing area of activity at the bottom of the tank. There, self-reproducing bacteria and enzymes quickly grow as they digest and liquefy the organic waste. Bio-Tab® is able to establish itself by working from the inside out. Regular usage will maintain your septic system in good working condition.

WHY SHOULD THE SEPTIC SYSTEM BE TREATED?

Test have shown that a non-treated septic system contains very low levels of digestive bacteria. The use of common household chemicals such as bleaches, detergents, solvents, and disinfectants can weaken or kill the already low levels of bacteria in the system. When this happens, the waste is no longer being digested and liquefied. The result is a buildup of solids that plug the system and give off offensive odors and gases. Regular treatment helps keep the proper level of bacterial action established and reduces build-ups.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD THE SEPTIC SYSTEM BE TREATED?

For best results, we recommend the following treatment for every 1,000 gallons of septic tank capacity:

  • Flush 3 tablets down the toilet to establish action, flushing twice.
  • Use 2 tablet each month thereafter to maintain the proper level of bacterial activity, always flushing twice with each dosage.

HOW IS BIO-TAB® PACKAGED?

The Bio-Tab® packaging concept has been designed with you in mind. This combination of product and package assures you of consistent product performance and dosage. Each jar contains 14 highly concentrated tablets, and a special moisture absorbing packet to assure long shelf life.

These concentrated, time release tables allow you to easily treat your septic system without the inconvenience of messy liquids or dusty powders.

FAQ

How often you need to have your septic tank pumped will depend on your usage and any existing damage or clogged drains. Typically, a fully functional 1,000-gallon septic tank requires pumping every 3-5 years based on regular use by a 4 person household.
Body waste and septic tank safe toilet paper are the only solid materials that should be flushed into your septic tank. If you are used to a sewer system such as those maintained by public utilities, you will want to be more conscience about what you flush and send down the drain. Feminine products, baby wipes, cotton balls, dental floss, tissue paper and other items that you may be used to flushing do not play well with a septic tank system. Not only can these materials cause a need for more frequent pumping, but they can also, in some cases, clog your field lines leading to costly repairs.
Garbage disposals can be a great tool for the kitchen. They grind up food into tiny particles and is a convenient way to dispose of biodegradable material. One of the problems though with using a garbage disposal is that you may be more likely to flush material that should not be in your septic tank. As non-biodegradable material such as bones and coffee grounds get flushed, they increase the amount of sludge in your septic tank. This will cause an increase in pumping frequency and reduce the number of necessary bacteria needed to break down the waste.
Septic tanks require a proper number of bacteria to help break down solids and grease. We typically do recommend using additives because under normal household conditions, chemicals such as anti-bacterial soaps and bleach can negatively affect the healthy bacteria required to keep your septic system operating at an optimal level. Contact us today for recommendations on proper additives.
You should have your septic tank pumped every 3-5 years depending on the number of people in your household and the types of material you flush or send down the drain. One of the main signs that your septic tank needs pumping is backups. When a septic tank becomes full, you may notice that several sink drains do not drain, and toilets will not flush. Another sign is odor. A tank that is full may cause sewage odors inside your home.
